Exercise and Lifestyle Changes for a Healthy Colon

The old adage that a person is what they eat rings true when it comes to colon health as well. In addition to a balanced and healthy diet, every individual should be aware of what other lifestyle changes are necessary in order to ensure they have a healthy and properly functioning colon. To keep the colon as healthy as possible everyone should:

Have a regular rectal exam. A physician will be able to diagnosis if polyps are present during a physical exam. Polyps are often a precursor to colon cancer. Having a regular physical examination that includes a rectal exam is important for both men and women.

exercise daily. Although many people believe that have to endure hours at the gym in order to reap any benefits from their exercise regime, this simply is not true. Something as simple as a daily walk or a swim can greatly improve colon health.

Give up smoking. Smoking has many negative effects on the body including causing colon problems. There are many great programs in place that can aid people wanting to break an addiction to nicotine.

Being aware of your family health history. Colon cancer can be hereditary therefore it's imperative that every person have a thorough understanding of the colon health of their ancestors. Many families do not openly discuss health issues, particularly those involving the colon. Ask your family members about their colon health to ensure you are aware of any potential problems.

report any potential problems to your physician. If you are suddenly constipated when you have always been very regular with your bowel movements or if you are stricken with what feels like an unending case of diarrhea, mention this to your doctor as soon as possible. The same is true if you experience abdominal pain or blood in your stools.

Maintain a healthy body weight. Many health problems are attributed to obesity, and colon cancer is one of them. If you are overweight, the process of losing weight should be started as soon as possible.

Strive to be stress free. Feeling extreme levels of stress can lead to constipation which is one of the contributing factors to colon problems. meditation, exercise and yoga are all helpful ways to deal with stress.

Get adequate sleep each night. The entire body functions better when a person is well rested. Many experts recommend retiring at the same time each night of the week as well as waking at the same time. In addition, short naps during the day can prove beneficial to many individuals.

Reduce alcohol consumption. Although a glass of red wine each night has proven beneficial to both heart and joint health, drinking too much can lead to health problems. Alcohol should be consumed occasionally and in moderation.

In an effort to keep the colon healthy, every individual should make any necessary lifestyle changes. Although it can be a challenge to trade a diet high in fat and sugar for one that is based around fruit, vegetables and whole grains, it is essential for good all around health.

Yellowstone Honeymoon Vacation Ideas

Wintertime honeymoon vacation Ideas in the Yellowstone area

Yellowstone area is a big draw for honeymooners. Honeymoon vacation ideas abound throughout this website. If you're looking for ideas, check out our top ten Activities and Winter Activities pages at http://www.yellowstone-area-guide.com. My son and his wife spent their honeymoon in West Yellowstone and the surrounding area just last December (2005). They absolutely loved it.

When most people go on their honeymoon they don't particularly want a set agenda where they need to keep a schedule. Still, there are some that want to squeeze as many activities as they can. I've put together several sample agendas that take the work out of planning your honeymoon. My wife, being the romantic that she is, has helped me put this article together. So here are some great honeymoon vacation ideas.

West Yellowstone honeymoon

Sample Agenda #1

Wakeup, eat breakfast at your hotel or eat at the Running Bear Pancake House. It's located at 538 Madison Avenue. It's easy to find and they serve an excellent breakfast.

after breakfast drive or walk on over to #208 Electric Street. Once there, find Yellowstone Arctic Yamaha, go inside and rent 2 snowmobiles. Get a good map of the trails in the West Yellowstone and Island Park area, and go have a blast. Another option; call beforehand and make reservations (406 646-9636) to take a guided snowmobile tour inside Yellowstone Park. There is really nothing like seeing Yellowstone with a blanket of snow covering everything. Make it a half-day or full-day excursion. Take a lunch.

After eating, go to the Yellowstone IMAX. Each show starts on the hour beginning at 9 am and running until 9 pm.

When the show is over, if you haven't had dinner, go to Bullwinkles Saloon and Eatery. They are at #19 Madison.

Go back to your room and relax.

Winter Sample Agenda #2

Wake up and get breakfast.

Go cross country skiing on the Rendezvous Trail System. It's an olympic class trail. You can rent skis at Bud Lillys Trout Shop or FreeHeel and Wheel. If you're a novice, they can give you some basic instruction. Its an activity that you can do for an hour or all day long.

Jackson Hole honeymoon

Winter Sample Agenda #3

Get breakfast.

Spend the rest of the day downhill skiing. You have 2 resorts to choose from; Snow King right in Jackson or Jackson Hole Mountain Resort at Teton Village. Both offer great skiing.

In the afternoon or evening when you get done with your hike, instead of driving straight back to Jackson, swing around to the west and stop at the Mangy Moose in Teton Village. They have a restaurant as well as a bar.

After dinner, head back to your hotel for some R & R.

Winter Sample Agenda #4

Get breakfast.

Drive to the elk refuge and take a sleigh ride out to feed the elk. Rides are on a first come first served basis. They depart 3 or 4 times every hour.

Get some lunch.

In the afternoon go to Teton Village and take a tram ride up the hill and back. Remember, though, that the tram will be closed until 2008. Even though the main aerial tram is being replaced, you can still get up the mountain on the Bridger Gondola.

In the evening take a Solitude Cabin sleigh ride and dinner. They serve roast prime rib au jus, filet of broiled salmon, or vegetarian entree. Good stuff. Call their phone number at (307) 739-2603 to make reservations.

These are some good honeymoon vacation ideas for you to look over. If you don't like a set agenda, you can still glean from these ideas and do what you want at your leisure.

Cruise Insurance - The One Thing To Make Your Cruise Enjoyable

Imagine spending several wondrous days on the turquoise seas on the most luxurious cruise liner you've ever seen. Now imagine taking that once-in-a-lifetime cruise with inadequate cruise insurance, or worse, none at all. Chances are you won't even enjoy your cruise because you won't have peace of mind.

You might ask, is cruise insurance really important? The thing is nobody really knows for sure what could happen while you're traveling, but it's always better to be safe than sorry.

Cruise insurance can help immensely if, for instance, your trip is cancelled because of foul weather. Or if your baggage gets lost somehow. There are personal belongings that are surely irreplaceable, but it's a consolation to be partly compensated for the loss. Even something as simple as missing a connecting cruise can ruin a dream vacation.

search the Web to find the best deals on cruise insurance. Most companies provide checklists of items to consider when purchasing a policy. Unexpected illnesses, accidents, and trip cancellations are good enough reasons to get cruise insurance.

Normally, travel deposits are non-refundable and this could be a great loss if an unexpected event comes up, necessitating you to cancel your trip. Cruise insurance can reimburse deposits and payments if the reason for cancellation is included in the coverage, such as injury, sickness, or death of the insured, a traveling companion, or a family member.

There are some policies that cover a lot of weather-related crises such as blizzards, typhoons, or floods. Some even include coverage of emergency evacuation and repatriation.

It's important to read the fine print to make sure that you're getting your money's worth. Do some research about the companies known to respond quickly to claims payments. If there are items in the contract which are vague, never hesitate to ask the company's representative about them.

You must also remember to inform a trusted friend or relative about your travel plans which cruise you're taking, where you plan to go, and details about your itinerary.

Cruise insurance may seem like a minor concern, but getting one makes you feel more secure, knowing that your trip won't be marred by unexpected expenses.
